Industrial Measurement System, Inc.'s ETEK 3000 is
the world's foremost acoustic measurement instrument for friction
materials. In this video, a prototype automated loading unit
measures an intact as-manufactured automotive brake pad. The
measurement methodology is quick and non-destructive.
Acoustic data can be used for modeling new brake material
formulations and can measure, as shown in this video, the
consistency and variation of material in a pad. As such, the ETEK is
ideally suited for quality control in the production of friction
materials.
This video shows how the technology of a novel laboratory
instrument, such as the ETEK 3000 can be converted for use in a
different manner, in this case non-destructive production testing.
